| 内容記述 | On Religiousness of Modern Art This article discusses a religious aspect of art based on Schelling’s thesis that an art work is an unconscious identity of the ideal and the real, while critically considering the meaning of the recent artistic movement. The main character of modern art is relativity. Its supporters claim that everything could be an art work. However, from the philosophy of art perspective it must represent some idea, and romantic philosophers even sought the absolute meaning of art. For Schopenhauer, art was liberation from existence, and for Nietzsche reconciliation with it. Both recognize the essence of the world in art, which is not an individual fantasy but an ultimate reality. The following discussion regards the Apollonian art as reality of reason in relation to nature and the Dionysian art as that of god in relation to mythology. Thereby, Schelling’s philosophy of nature and that of mythology offer a deep insight into the identity of being and consciousness. It seems that modern art, whose tendency is thoroughly nihilistic, is far away from such an idea, but the article concludes that it has a strong possibility of the revelation. |
