| 内容記述 | 日本人が周囲との関係性の調和に関心を持ち，「ふつう」であることを重視することは数多く指摘され ている．しかしながら，そうした傾向を実証的に示した研究はほとんどみられない．そこで本研究は， 周囲の他者との比較に基づく遂行水準が「ふつう」認知と感情状態に与える影響を場面想定法の質問紙 調査によって検討した．研究 1 では周囲の他者との関係性を操作し，研究 2 ではある程度の相互作用を 行う他者を想定し，その親しさの程度を操作した．概して，研究 1 ・ 2 ともに自らの遂行水準が「ふつう」 であるときに最も「ふつう」認知および安静状態が高い一方，否定的感情が最も低い傾向がみられた． こうした傾向は，関係性の調和に敏感でいなくてはならない間柄において顕著だった．日本人は周囲の 他者と比較して自らの遂行水準が「ふつう」であることで安心感を得ていることが示された． |

| 内容記述 | Purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of performance level (i.e. superior, middle, or inferior) on “futsu” cognition and emotion among various relationships. Two studies manipulated kind of relationships (study1) and the degree of intimacy with friends (study2). In the study1, “middle” performance level condition revealed relatively higher calmness and lower negative emotion than “superior” or “inferior” condition despite kind of relationships. In the study2, the same tendency as study1 was indicated except high-intimacy condition. Japanese intended to be “middle” because of deep concern with maintaining their relationships. This tendency was notable especially among moderate intimate relationship. Furthermore, respondents in “extreme superior” performance level condition indicated lower calmness than “superior” or “middle” condition. It was suggested that extreme high performance imply diversity with others, therefore people feel uneasy at their disharmony among reference group. | |||||
