| 内容記述 | 本論文においては、動名詞（Verbal Noun, VN）がコピュラと結合し、動名詞の項にヲ 格を付与している構文（「をVN だ」構文）が、実際にどのぐらい使用されているかを、 Google 検索によって確認した。これは佐藤（2011）の再調査である。ただし、本論文は、 調査方法において佐藤（2011）とは異なり、Google 検索の際に、検索オプションを操作し て「語順も含め完全一致」するテキストを選択し、はじめの20 件に当該形式が見つけられ た場合は、使用されていると見なし、はじめの20 件に当該形式が見つけられない場合は、 使用されていないと見なした。468 語の動名詞のサンプルについてこの操作を行ったとこ ろ、「をVN だ」の形式は、468 語中の392 語（83.7%）に関して当該形式が使用されてい ることが認められた。同時に調査した「をVN 中」の形式に関しては、486 語中の408 語 （87.2%）が使用されていることが認められた。どちらも8 割を超える動名詞に使われてい ることが確認されたことから、「をVN だ」という形式がその使用において決して特殊で稀 有な用法ではないことを示した。 |

| 内容記述 | This paper investigated the actual use of a Japanese construction with a verbal noun (VN), using the Google search engine. The construction investigated consists of a Japanese verbal noun followed by a copula and co-occurring with its Theme in the accusative, i.e., the o-VN-da construction. This is a replication of Sato (2011). This paper differs from Sato’s (2011) method in that it used Google’s Advanced Search and confined the expressions to what was exactly matching (‘Find web pages that have this exact wording or phrase’). The verbal nouns in the carrier frame of ‘o VN da’ (that is, the verbal noun in question preceded by an accusative marker and followed by the copula da) were searched for and, if there were any web pages that contained the expression in question within the first 20 results, the verbal noun in question was designated as ‘used’. If the expression in question did not appear in the first 20 results, the verbal noun in question was designated as ‘not used.’ Of the sample of 468 verbal nouns, 392 verbal nouns (83.7%) were confirmed as ‘used.’ This figure was close to the occurrence of the construction with a VN followed by –tyuu ‘during’ and co-occurring with its Theme in the accusative, i.e., the o-VN-tyuu construction, a construction widely accepted in the literature. There were 408 verbal nouns (87.2%) found ‘used’ in this o-VN-tyuu construction. This shows that the o-VN-da construction is equally as frequently used as the o-VN-tyuu construction and is by no means a marginal expression in Japanese. |
