| 内容記述 | 小論の目的は，フランス語における「逆転のquand」を明らかにすることにある。標題の文はあいまいである。 1つの意味は（ 1） « Quand Marie entra, je lisais le journal. »であり，もう1つの意味は（ 2）« Je lisais le journal, et à ce moment-là Marie entra. » である。構文論的には，（1） の場合には，従属節が主節を副詞的に修飾しているのに対して，（ 2） では，主節と従属節が並置されている。意味論的には，（ 2） では，主節の行為が，従属節の予想外の行為によって中断される。語用論的には，少なくとも，従属節は潜在的に新情報を含んでいる。なぜなら，それは時に主語倒置をするからである。最後に，音声的には，逆転のquandの場合には，quandの直前で短いポーズがある。 The present work aims to elucidate the grammatical term ‘quand inverse’ in French. The sentence of the title is ambiguous. One meaning is (1) Quand Marie entra, je lisais le journal, the other is (2) Je lisais le journal, et à ce moment-là Marie entra. Syntactically, in the case of (1), the subordinate clause modifies the principal clause adverbially; in the case of (2), the principal and the subordinate clauses are juxtaposed. Semantically, in (2), the action of the principal clause is interrupted by an unexpected action of the subordinate clause. Pragmatically, at least the subordinate clause potentially contains new information because, on occasion, it may involve an inversion. Finally, from the viewpoint of sound, quand inverse has a short pause just before quand. |
