Fifty-three school teachers who supervised student teachers responded with their evaluation of students' teaching activities. The same number of student teachers then evaluated their own activities, using the same evaluation items with a 5-point scale of attainment. \n As a result of factor analysis, six factors were extracted; the first factor was interpreted as clarity/accuracy. The second was organization of teaching activity. The third, the fourth, the fifth and the sixth were feedback, interaction, tempo and use of blackboard respectively. These six factors were interpreted as subcategories of basic teaching skills including 27 effective items. \n The differences between school teachers' evaluation and student teachers' self-evaluation were examined, and it was found that the latter gave lower scores on the five subcategories other than feedback. Student teachers gave low scores on the use of blackboard, and high scores, on feedback. On the other hand, school teachers gave high scores on clarity/accuracy, organization of teaching activity and feedback. \n The correlations between these subcategories of teaching skills and the old items were analyzed.
