Bollnow's writings, the following points are to be made clear in terms of the structure of human life. \n1. Bollnow thinks that the human life has the double structure with two strata of \"life\" and \"existence\" in it. He places the former under the latter. In this way, he forms his \"philosophy of hope\" making up the insufficiency of existentialism with the philosophy of Dilthey. \n2. Bollnow's philosophy is deeply related to the problem of \"transcendence\". There are two directions in his \"transcendence\", that is, \"transcendence above human life\" and \"transcendence below human life\". \"Philosophy of hope\" suggests that man can comprise and unify these two moments of \"life\" and \"existence\" by opening up his heart to these \"transcendences\". The concept of \"transcendence above human life\" is very important to understand Bollnow's anthropology. \n3. Concept of \"faith\", \"hope\" and \"thankfulness\" presented by Bollnow, are closely connected with Christianity. Nevertheless, in order to insist on the originality of his \"philosophy of hope\", he explained these concepts with in the area of philosophy. This could be said to be the main characterstic of Bollnow's anthropology.
