{"created":"2023-05-15T09:29:24.922329+00:00","id":79,"links":{},"metadata":{"_buckets":{"deposit":"40b8dfa9-ad6e-4413-96e8-aa9896d3f999"},"_deposit":{"created_by":14,"id":"79","owners":[14],"pid":{"revision_id":0,"type":"depid","value":"79"},"status":"published"},"_oai":{"id":"oai:icu.repo.nii.ac.jp:00000079","sets":["12:3:4:22"]},"author_link":["5367"],"item_10002_biblio_info_7":{"attribute_name":"書誌情報","attribute_value_mlt":[{"bibliographicIssueDates":{"bibliographicIssueDate":"2011-03-31","bibliographicIssueDateType":"Issued"},"bibliographicIssueNumber":"42","bibliographicPageEnd":"70","bibliographicPageStart":"53","bibliographic_titles":[{"bibliographic_title":"人文科学研究 （キリスト教と文化）"},{"bibliographic_title":"Humanities: Christianity and Culture","bibliographic_titleLang":"en"}]}]},"item_10002_description_5":{"attribute_name":"抄録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"Christianity in the United States is undergoing several transitions, or so\nit is argued in provocative and important books published in recent years\n(many more such books have appeared than could be cited in this essay).\nThis essay describes three such reports, each significantly different from\nthe other; and after doing so, takes up the question of how recent\ndevelopments and conflicts within Christianity in the United States affect\nthe work of historians, a question answered by looking at the “separation\nof church and state,” a deeply contested matter in recent scholarship and\npopular polemics; the history and significance of evangelicalism and\n“Fundamentalism,” as these too have been debated among historians;\ntransformations of “spirituality” or certain kinds of practice, intersecting\nwith the emergence of a consumer culture; and, much more briefly, the\nhistory of the Puritan movement as it has been recently debated and\nrethought.\nTwo conclusions emerge from this review of debates about Christianity\nin America, past and present. The first concerns the “decline” of what are\nknown as “mainstream” Protestant denominations or theologies.
