Although the number of foreign visitors to Japan has plummeted due to COVID-19, the number of foreigners residing in Japan continues to live. Until recent years, the learning environment for medical interpreters varied from region to region. At that time, it was common for organizations that dispatched medical interpreters to be in charge of registering and training medical interpreters, but there were no nationwide regulations regarding the content, duration, and lecturers of the training, and it was left to each local government. At present, Japan interpretation schools and medical interpretation training institutions mainly provide a learning environment for English, Chinese, and Japanese interpreters. For languages other than English, it cannot be said that the learning environment is well established. As foreigners of various nationalities live in Japan, it is necessary to have a support system that can respond to many languages.
