The rapid development of\ncommunication technologies used for e-learning has implications for teacher\ntraining. A student-centered revision on the role of the stakeholders in the learning\nenterprise is paramount. Sensitivity training to cultural needs and professional\ndevelopment are recognized factors in how collaboration and social presence\ncontribute to open communication and group cohesion. Technological tools need\nto be used to enhance learning outcomes. Formative assessment also promotes\nself-directed learning and is a source of empowerment.
