In particular, this study focused on the perception patterns of palatalized and non-palatalized mimetics. Hamano (1986, 1998) pointed out that palatalized sounds within a Japanese mimetic (e.g., /katya-katya/) often convey an uncontrollable, childish, or extreme feel when compared to its non-palatalized counterpart (e.g., /kata-kata/). However, it was not clear whether these palatalization characteristics can be used as a rule to generate or learn new mimetics. Native speakers of Japanese, English speaking learners of Japanese, and non-speakers of Japanese whose native language is English participated in this study. Participants listened to novel mimetics and matached sounds with pictures presented on a computer screen. The results indicate that native speakers of Japanese and non-speakers of Japanese utilize the palatalization rule, which suggests the universality of the palatalization rule. However, the learners in this study did not yield significant differences. Effective ways to introduce mimetics to the learners are discussed.","subitem_description_language":"ja","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.34577/00000039","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国際基督教大学","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"04523318","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"open access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"内藤, 由香","creatorNameLang":"ja"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"47","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2013-09-01"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"26 内藤.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.6 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"日本語の擬音語・擬態語知覚 ―母語話者,学習者,非日本語話者の比較から―","url":"https://icu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/42/files/26 内藤.pdf"},"version_id":"cc0b2025-16e7-4abc-b3ac-3514c8183308"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"日本語の擬音語・擬態語知覚 ―母語話者,学習者,非日本語話者の比較から―","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"日本語の擬音語・擬態語知覚 ―母語話者,学習者,非日本語話者の比較から―","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"An Exploration of Japanese Mimetics Perception: Comparisons among Native Speakers, Adult Learners, and Non-Speakers of Japanese","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"14","path":["11"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2013-09-01"},"publish_date":"2013-09-01","publish_status":"0","recid":"42","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["日本語の擬音語・擬態語知覚 ―母語話者,学習者,非日本語話者の比較から―"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-10-04T04:28:30.256613+00:00"}
