@article{oai:icu.repo.nii.ac.jp:00002626, author = {Harshbarger, Bill}, journal = {語学研究, ICU Language Research Bulletin}, month = {Feb}, note = {Complex systems theory is a relatively new paradigm for understanding systems behavior. It was originally developed in the fields of mathematics and physical sciences. Complex systems theory has also been widely proposed as an important new way to look at social and cognitive sciences, including language learning. One criticism of this new paradigm in the field of language learning is that no clear model of language learning based on complex systems theory has been developed. This paper considers the current state of language education, provides an overview of complex systems theory and then proposes a basic model of language learning based on the new paradigm. The paper concludes with some implications of adopting a complex systems model of language learning.}, pages = {1--15}, title = {Chaos, Complexity and Language Learning}, volume = {22}, year = {2008} }
