The speakers are\nIzumi NIKI (ICU Teaching Assistant, Office Director of NPO Support House\nJomu), who gave birth and reared her child while she was in graduate\nschool in ICU, and Miho MATSUZAKI (ICU Center of Gender Studies\nResearch Institute Assistant), who was devoted to the nursing care of her\nfamily in her undergraduate years.\n , conducted by students, and , done for others\nsuch as with child bearing and nursing care, have never been considered as\ncompatible. In addition, students who study and engage in care work\nsimultaneously tend to be solitary, or at least feel strong isolation. This\n“isolation” is mainly defined as:\n1. Emotional Isolation: Unable to share feelings with others and be\nunderstood by the network of friends of the person concerned.\n2. Temporal/Spatial Isolation: Being compelled to have a different time\nschedule from his/her friends because of care work.\n3. Further isolation caused by segregation or elimination from his/her\nnetwork of friends (whether it is intentional or not)\n4. Isolation from the educational system itself.\n\nThe tasks yet to be solved are\n1. considering the specific support for students who undertake , and\n2. Making the situation of “doing while studying” itself visible.\nThe compatibility of and have never been\nfocused on before.
