Due to contact with different languages at different times, English has continued to adopt foreign elements. The influence of Scandinavian languages, Latin, and French is well known, but other languages have brought a significant number of varieties of words, meanings and even new phonemes. After reviewing multilingualism of the English language, the essay introduces three recent approaches reflecting diachronic studies: language contact, corpus, and word formation rules. Finally, the essay introduces teaching materials that help students understand how English had contact with other languages and borrowed various linguistic particulars from them. The materials include exercises and field work tasks on new varieties of the second person plural pronoun, new reporting verbs, and the powerful word formation rules. The first-hand experience of observing synchronic varieties and diachronic changes helps students acquire reasoning skills to explain special linguistic phenomena and realize the importance of the actual context.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.34577/00002367","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国際基督教大学","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"04523318","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_access_right":{"attribute_name":"アクセス権","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_access_right":"open access","subitem_access_right_uri":"http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"守屋, 靖代","creatorNameLang":"ja"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"3806","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2014-06-06"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"英語のマルチ・リンガリズムを英語教育に活かす.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.0 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"英語のマルチ・リンガリズムを英語教育に活かす-教養学部での英語史-","url":"https://icu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2393/files/英語のマルチ・リンガリズムを英語教育に活かす.pdf"},"version_id":"44fb1556-7c78-4e65-8916-b56c24c7d13d"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"英語のマルチ・リンガリズムを英語教育に活かす─教養学部での英語史─","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"英語のマルチ・リンガリズムを英語教育に活かす─教養学部での英語史─","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"Incorporating Multilingualism in the Development of the English Language into English Teaching","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"14","path":["301"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2014-06-06"},"publish_date":"2014-06-06","publish_status":"0","recid":"2393","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["英語のマルチ・リンガリズムを英語教育に活かす─教養学部での英語史─"],"weko_creator_id":"14","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-10-04T02:06:51.136054+00:00"}
