This demand led to the drastic reforms in Chinese higher education in the past decade. This research focuses on the 5 fastest growing aspects of higher education and reform in China: “cross-disciplinary curricularand credit systems” [文理浸透 in Chinese], “second major” [第二専業], “double degree” [双学位], “bilingual education” [双語教育], and “twinning” [両校培養]. This research analyzes data from the top 20 universities of China and indicates that: the “cross-disciplinary curricular and credit systems”(文理融合 in Japanese)and the “second major”(副専攻)are the most widely adopted with the merits of helping secure employment.“Double degree”(ダブル・ディグリー)is also highly ranked with recognition from overseas. “Bilingualeducation”(バイリンガル教育)has taken on various styles from full foreign language education to partial education using foreign-language only materials. The lowest ranked reform is “twinning”(ツイニング)due to high costs and other requirements. The results suggest that recent reforms have made Chinese higher education systems more diverse and flexible.
