The first study focused on constructing a Sibling Attraction Scale (SAS) for the mensuration of interpersonal attraction. Time-share, trust, and pride were established as the three factors of the SAS. The second study examined the effects of social desirability and similarity of personality on interpersonal attraction. As hypothesized, data collected on 96 Japanese university students confirmed that there was a significant positive correlation between social desirability/sibling attraction and similarity of personality/ sibling attraction. Meanwhile, the standardized regression coefficient was significant for social desirability/sibling attraction but not for similarity of personality/sibling attraction.
