Previous studies have concentrated on economics, particularly family income, differences between students of normal four year universities and Junior colleges. In today's society, with the increase in the percentage of students who attend college, this economic difference fails to capture the growing trend of junior college attendance among students. This paper demonstrates the importance of not only family income, but also other economical and sociological aspects of college selection. The results suggest that junior college-bound students come from parents with a low educational background, cultural capital, and an aspiration to attend college. This strong desire to attend further schooling can be explained by a Pull-push Model. The relationship between junior college attendance and occupational choice is also reviewed and suggestions for further studies are given.}, pages = {37--44}, title = {短期高等教育研究の回顧と展望─進学アスピレーションと職業選択の視点から─}, year = {2011} }
