For example, the protestant church Nihon Kirisutokyohdan published a \"general curriculum\"(Kami no tami Curriculum) and a teaching plan,\"Living by God's Grace\",(Magumi ni yotte Ikiru Kyohan). The group considered Christian Education to be \"a function of the church\". In addition, the main issue of Christian education was seen to be \"growing Christian faith\" in early childhood. On the other hand, the \"Federation of Christian Nursery Schools,\" (Kirisutokyo Hoiku Renmei) published the \"Guide to Early Childhood Christian Education\" (Yohji no Kirisutokyo Kyoiku Sisin). In 1976, in a sequel to this guide (Yoji no Kirisutokyo Kyoiku Shishin Zoku), in place of the 6 spheres model advocated in the earlier publication, one using 4 lifestyles was suggested, similar to that used in the public education system. This view of 4 lifestyles has sidely influenced the philosophy of Christian early childhood education today. In short, a feature of Christian early childhood education formerly was an emphasis on mission and growing Christian faith.
