Survey questions were constructed based on students' responses to a preliminary investigation on what kind of instructor characteristics comprise credibility and immediacy. A factor analysis of the main survey identified four factors for instructor credibility: expertness, enthusiasm, transparency, and social reputation, and three factors for instructor immediacy: self-disclosure, approachability, and interest in students. Learning motivation of students was probed through supplementary inquiry on instructor credibility and immediacy. These results indicated that instructor credibility and immediacy were perceived as important factors for learning motivation among students.
